Mission Statement:

Students will actively and collaboratively engage in the joyful process of music making. They should expect to perform and study a wide variety of music from different time periods and genres.  Music will be examined from historical, theoretical, and compositional perspectives to enhance the student's understanding of music as a whole.  Music is a unique form of human expression and communication.  The musical ensemble and classroom is a representation of our interconnected lives and one of the most effective arenas for learning and experiencing the relationships society requires for survival.  The creation of independent musicians is an important objective.  Through daily rehearsals, classroom activities, diligent practice, and genuine curiosity, students will be able to perform and assess music given to them without the help of others.  The goal is to enable students to continue to play, sing, enjoy, and advocate for music throughout their lives.
